Sarees of Strenghth & Smiles of Joy |
Every evening, as the college buses depart, a vibrant scene unfolds near the BCA building. A group of laborers patiently waits for their turn to go home. This moment, though routine, brings with it an unexpected burst of color—a sight that brightens the campus in a unique way.
Among them, the women stand out, draped in sarees of bright colors and beautiful patterns.. Bandhani, Leheriya, Patola, and Kalamkari—traditional prints that hold a heritage of craftsmanship—adorn their attire. Unlike the muted or sophisticated shades often associated with wealth and class, their sarees boast bold shades of dark brown, tangerine orange, and fluorescent yellow. Colors that many of us hesitate to wear, fearing they might not look "classy" or "rich."
Yet, in this moment, these women redefine beauty. It is not about expensive fabrics or trendy styles; it is about confidence, grace, and an effortless charm that shines through their smiles - even after a long day of hard work. Their presence reminds us that true beauty lies in embracing oneself, in the courage to wear colors without hesitation, and in the joy that shines from the inside. In a world where we often speak of differences in skin color , we often don’t realize that even our choice of clothes creates differences—but they stand out because they boldly wear bright, lively colors.
Perhaps it is time we let go of our self-imposed limits and see colors not as a symbol of status but as a reflection of joy. Because in the end, it is not the shade of our clothes that makes us stand out, but the light we carry within.
